Dr. Mihir Kothari
Dr. Mihir Kothari is a distinguished expert in pediatric eye diseases, squint, and nystagmus. He has been at the forefront of myopia control strategies for children, employing both optical and pharmacological interventions since 2005. In 2006, he established India's first binocular vision and eye motility lab dedicated to managing nystagmus and complex binocular vision disorders.
Dr. Kothari is an innovator in his field, having invented smart probes for endoscopic probing to treat watery eyes in children.
He has also developed specialized squint surgery techniques such as adjustable hemi muscle transpositions, paired injection sclerotherapy, and dynamic ophthalmoscopy for assessing accommodation in children. Additionally, he co-invented the first dichoptic therapy treatment for managing lazy eyes in both children and adults.
As an avid researcher, Dr. Kothari has authored 82 peer-reviewed international publications, with most as the first author. With 26 years of extensive experience, he practices science-based medicine exclusively, upholding the highest levels of transparency and ethical standards.
Dr. Kothari has mentored numerous pediatric ophthalmologists in India and founded the group of Pediatric Ophthalmologists and Squint Specialists of Mumbai. He has received training from prestigious institutions, including Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA, and is a recipient of 23 named scientific awards.
Committed to community service, Dr. Kothari conducts free eye surgical camps across India. He is deeply dedicated to his pediatric patients, valuing their well-being and maintaining a respectful, compassionate approach toward them and their families.
